Peacocks get most of their colour from light reflection rather than a dye. The feathers have barbs, which in turn have rods. It is these rods that controls how light reflects and produces the green, golden yellow, brown and bright blue. White peacocks have a slightly different arrangement of the rods thus don't develop the usual colours.
For me the white peacock represents purity and ethereal beauty. It is the dream state of the soul where anything can happen and innocence can flourish.
I painted this in acrylic paints using a teal coloured background and orange flowers to pull everything together. I love this combination of rich colours, I think they go together really well and add a certain gracefulness to the whole ambiance of the painting. I have also added a piece of music by 'I origins' for you to listen to and relax whilst contemplating the painting.
