The auroras have always fascinated me, with their sweeping colours illuminated against the indigo sky. For me they have a magical element to them, like observing a sacred dance of lights. I have not seen them yet, but hope that one day I will be lucky enough to be a part of one of nature’s wonders.
The northern lights inspired me to paint a picture of a wintery scene with snow-capped mountains reflecting colours from the auroras in the sky. The mountains framed by a misty wood add a sense of deep tranquillity. I also included a frozen pond to depict stillness, surrounded by glistening snow muffling the footsteps of a stag and deer calmly going about their business, as the auroras flow like waves above them.
I have named this painting ‘Tides of the Night.’ Its size is 24”x 30”, oil on canvas.
