I am a self-taught artist who loves and appreciates art and photography. Both capture moments of life with great meaning and beauty.

A photo or a piece of art can set off all kinds of emotions. I believe that looking at paintings and images can promote healing too, a form of colour therapy.

Anyway, I hope my vision of my time on this planet can give you all some form of joy.

Down Stream

Hey everyone, hope you have had a good week. I actually had time to paint and so here I am again sharing it with you.

A while back we, as in my family and I, went for a day out in the countryside. We went near Youlgrave, Derbyshire. I remember it being a hot summers day. We decided to go for a drive to see if we could discover a new area to explore. We saw some people parking up  and going down a path. It looked interesting so we decided to take a look and it was worth it. The walk led through a field with cows and sheep and then ended up near a quiet road. Here we discovered another path that led to this stream. We saw people sitting among the tall grasses having picnics. It was a hidden gem of a place, a secret hideaway.

The water was crystal clear, ducks were cooling off in it and the different variations of blues and greens in the water made me feel like I was holidaying abroad. Of course I went mental with the camera and took lots of photos of the place.  Here is the photograph I based my painting on.

How gorgeous is that? Here is another angle of the area.

Another picture of the clear water.

So there you have it. The story behind this painting. It is time to reveal the painting. I used watercolour to paint this one. I managed to take two stages of the painting. I was so engrossed in the painting and forgot to take more.

Here are the first and last stages.

Hope you like it. You may have noticed I did not copy it exactly. I added more yellow into it to brighten it up, just to make it feel more summery, just how I remember it. This painting is called 'Down Stream'.

Oh by the way I am on holiday next week, yep you guessed no blog. I will see you the following week. Have a good one.

Love and Peace

Samira :)
