I am a self-taught artist who loves and appreciates art and photography. Both capture moments of life with great meaning and beauty.

A photo or a piece of art can set off all kinds of emotions. I believe that looking at paintings and images can promote healing too, a form of colour therapy.

Anyway, I hope my vision of my time on this planet can give you all some form of joy.

Sister Earth

This is the last in the series of poured paintings, another abstract piece. When I created this I imagined looking at another planet from the point of view of a satellite. I immediately saw an earthly terrain with mountains, valleys and rivers. Then I had a thought, "what if I added gold leaf to it?" It ended up looking like mountains of gold, the kind you hear about in stories from the Incas and Aztecs. Can you imagine a world where you decide to go for a walk among the mountains of gold. Wow ...I bet if that was the case, gold would not be seen as valuable as it is at the moment.

As a consequence of this, I decided to name it 'Sister Earth', don't ask me why it just came to me. I heard somewhere a while back that a scientist found a planet made entirely of diamond, well why not gold too. Here it is ...

Anyway, getting off the subject for a while, I watched a lecture on spirituality today and was given a pearl of wisdom which I really wanted to share with you. Tibetan monks often meditate for long periods of time to further their spiritual development. I discovered that they are told to visualise the universe as a mirror and then to meditate on it. Just think about that for a minute. When we look in the mirror we see ourselves, so if the universe is a mirror then everything you look at is you. Bearing this in mind how would you treat your environment and all living things including the human and animal population within it, just something to think about.

I will leave you on this note, have a lovely week.

Love and Peace

A Flowers Impression

Hey everyone, I hope this week has treated you well. I am just posting another painting that I did a while back in the series of poured paintings.

Another lovely one where the colours bleed into one another forming interesting shapes that look to me like brightly coloured flower petals, yeh I know go figure. This also reminds me of a flower I saw at the Eden Project in Cornwall UK, it was yellow red and frilly. Here is the picture I took of it. If you like you can buy a print or card from my website on Fine Art America. Here is the link below.

If anyone knows the name of this, can you please tell me because I have been looking on the internet for it and cannot find it anywhere. You can leave a comment or email me the name, I will be most grateful and will sleep soundly :)

I have named this painting 'A Flowers Impression'.

Have a wonderful week.

A Gaze Through Infinity

Sorry dear friends, I had another hectic week and could not do my blog on time. Well better late than never.

Here is another painting done using the pouring technique. This is my favourite one because of the colours and abstract images that appear in it. It has a certain presence a kind of living form. It is so difficult to explain, but when I look at it I feel as though I am gazing into infinity a place before the Big Bang. For me this is where life began where the building blocks of the universe were created and matter had no form.

I hope you love it as much as I do. If you wish to purchase the original,  just email me at www.arimasarts.com.  This painting is actually an oval one even though it appears to be circular. This is just the way the image appears when you upload it. The size of this one is 16" x 11" and it was made using acrylics and varnished to help preserve it.

This is the painting enjoy! Until next time.

Love and Peace

My Blue Planet

This is another painting I did earlier in my art career.  I  could just look at this all day because I love the way the two colours, blue and white, blend together forming unusual shapes that initially look abstract, but then mysteriously start forming into recognisable shapes.

I cannot help thinking that this painting looks so much like our blue planet, the Earth.  It may not be exact, but it could be classed as a cousin of our world.

When I study this painting I feel relaxed and mesmerised by the shapes and forms mingling together creating something that is unique with a life of its own.

I hope you love this painting too. I have decided to name it 'My Blue Planet'. This is the third painting in the series. If you would like to purchase the original painting, please email me at arimasarts@gmail.com

I saw this video on Youtube and thought it was appropriate for us to appreciate the delicate beauty of our planet and how it is important that we love, respect and protect it. Thanks to Holy Jonte for uploading the video.
