I am a self-taught artist who loves and appreciates art and photography. Both capture moments of life with great meaning and beauty.

A photo or a piece of art can set off all kinds of emotions. I believe that looking at paintings and images can promote healing too, a form of colour therapy.

Anyway, I hope my vision of my time on this planet can give you all some form of joy.

Down Stream

Hey everyone, hope you have had a good week. I actually had time to paint and so here I am again sharing it with you.

A while back we, as in my family and I, went for a day out in the countryside. We went near Youlgrave, Derbyshire. I remember it being a hot summers day. We decided to go for a drive to see if we could discover a new area to explore. We saw some people parking up  and going down a path. It looked interesting so we decided to take a look and it was worth it. The walk led through a field with cows and sheep and then ended up near a quiet road. Here we discovered another path that led to this stream. We saw people sitting among the tall grasses having picnics. It was a hidden gem of a place, a secret hideaway.

The water was crystal clear, ducks were cooling off in it and the different variations of blues and greens in the water made me feel like I was holidaying abroad. Of course I went mental with the camera and took lots of photos of the place.  Here is the photograph I based my painting on.

How gorgeous is that? Here is another angle of the area.

Another picture of the clear water.

So there you have it. The story behind this painting. It is time to reveal the painting. I used watercolour to paint this one. I managed to take two stages of the painting. I was so engrossed in the painting and forgot to take more.

Here are the first and last stages.

Hope you like it. You may have noticed I did not copy it exactly. I added more yellow into it to brighten it up, just to make it feel more summery, just how I remember it. This painting is called 'Down Stream'.

Oh by the way I am on holiday next week, yep you guessed no blog. I will see you the following week. Have a good one.

Love and Peace

The New Look

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been posting recently, been very busy. My hubby has been off work so we finally got a chance to paint the kitchen. If you would have read my previous post ' A Big Thanks to my Family and Friends' you might remember that I said I would paint the corner of my kitchen one day, as there were splashes of paint on the wall. What can I say when the creative juices are in flow I do make a humongous mess. I do not realise at the time, but regret it later on when I am entertaining family and friends at the dining table. I have thought about painting a mural on the wall, but that would end up getting destroyed too. Oh well all is good now.

The other exciting news is that I have updated my website, or should I say my hubby has, my knowledge is still limited in this area, but I am a lot better than I was. We have a new look to our website, much more trendier I think. Take a look, have a browse and if you like leave a comment at the end of this blog. I would love to hear from you, your views are important to me. Here is an image my homepage.

I have not had a chance to do any artwork this month, as it has been an extremely challenging one both physically and mentally. What can you do, life must go on regardless. All I can do is go with the flow of life and make the most of what comes.

Anyway, enough of my babbling. I want to say thank you to all of my friends who read my blog regularly. I am grateful for your time. Now go and enjoy the sun while it lasts. ;)

Love and Peace

Samira :)

Beautiful Butterflies 2

As you can see I have carried on with the same theme painting butterflies from last week. Here are the stages of development as I painted them. They are 5” x 5” acrylic on canvas. I hope you like them. As always they are up for sale and you can email me if you would like to purchase any of them at arimasarts@gmail.com .
Butterflies are very beautiful and delicate creatures which I love to watch fluttering by, like specs of sunshine flitting amongst the flowers. When you see butterflies you know summer is here. Here is a lovely Irish Blessing that caught my eye.

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.

Here is a treat for those of you who like sweet things and butterflies. I have found a fantastic video on Youtube showing a tutorial on how to make chocolate butterflies. Sweeeet (sorry couldn’t resist).

Love and Peace
